Official Statement from Law Firm Sejong Representing Former Representative Min
Former ADORE CEO Min Hee-jin filed a complaint with the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul against former HYBE CEO Park Ji-won and Park Tae-hee, CCO (Chief Communications Officer), for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. Additionally, two reporters from the entertainment media Dispatch, who reported on the matter, were also sued for defamation under the same law.
On the 2nd, Sejong Law Firm, representing former CEO Min, released an official statement conveying this. Min's side claims that former CEO Park and COO Park formed a negative public opinion against Min by distributing illegally obtained private conversations and false information. Regarding the two Dispatch reporters, they argued that despite fully understanding the intentions of former CEO Park and COO Park, they published false articles with the purpose of defaming former CEO Min, thereby damaging her reputation.
Min's side stated, "The entertainment media outlet wrote articles today that are completely different from the truth, creating false content by adding their own speculation to one-sided claims without any fact-checking." They emphasized, "Through this lawsuit, we hope a thorough investigation will reveal the serious lies and deception of the accused, and that they will bear the corresponding legal responsibility."
Dispatch reported that former CEO Min was aware in advance of NewJeans' live broadcast in September and member Hani's attendance at the National Assembly audit in October. They also reported that Min met with Mr. A, the actual owner of Daboring, who was rumored to be involved in recruitment and investment. Dispatch pointed out that Min was preparing to escape HYBE, asking Mr. A, "Can I take NewJeans with me?"
Meanwhile, NewJeans notified their agency ADORE of contract termination due to breach of exclusive contract and began independent activities from the 29th of last month.
