On the 2nd, Sejong Law Firm and Marcol Consulting Group, representing former CEO Min, stated, "We have filed a complaint with Yongsan Police Station against Park Ji-won, former CEO of HYBE, and Park Tae-hee, HYBE’s Chief Communications Officer, for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (Information and Communications Network Infringement, etc.). Dispatch reporters have been accused of violating the same act (defamation)."
Min’s legal team said, “Since April, the accused Park Ji-won and Park Tae-hee have actively used illegally obtained private conversations, adding false information to create negative public opinion against former CEO Min.” They added, “Dispatch reporters A and B, fully aware of this intent as journalists, continuously published false articles to defame former CEO Min Hee-jin, damaging her reputation. A and B wrote articles today that are completely different from the truth, adding their own speculations to one-sided claims without any fact-checking, resulting in false content.”
Furthermore, Min’s side stated, “We hope this lawsuit will lead to a thorough investigation revealing the serious lies and deception of the accused, and that they will bear the corresponding legal responsibility.”
On the same day, Dispatch published a report titled “Built up NewJeans’ escape... The reality of Min Hee-jin’s lies,” suggesting that former CEO Min was involved in NewJeans’ surprise live broadcast, member Hanni’s National Assembly attendance, and the recent contract termination press conference, raising suspicions of tampering.
The report claimed that former CEO Min met a company owner introduced by NewJeans member’s uncle and proposed investment if NewJeans were brought out. Dispatch supported this with testimony from the company owner and related photos. It also reported that former CEO Min was aware in advance of NewJeans’ emergency live broadcast in September and member Hanni’s attendance at the National Assembly audit in October.
After resigning as an internal director, former CEO Min began a full-scale legal battle against HYBE. On the 22nd of last month, she filed a complaint with Yongsan Police Station against Kim Tae-ho, CEO of Belief Lab, Choi Yoon-hyuk, Vice CEO, and others including Heo OO (Visual Director) and Lee OO (Head of Operation) for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. On the 25th, she filed a criminal complaint against Park Tae-hee, HYBE’s Chief Communications Officer (CCO), and the head of public relations for breach of duty at Yongsan Police Station.
Meanwhile, NewJeans declared that their exclusive contract was terminated as of midnight on November 29, stating at an emergency press conference on the 28th at 8:30 p.m. that their demands for corrections to ADORE had not been met and that they would leave the agency. At the press conference, NewJeans expressed their desire to work with former CEO Min Hee-jin in the future.
