On the 2nd, the Presidential Office announced that President Yoon Suk-yeol and senior aides at the level of senior secretaries or higher are donating 10% of their salaries to neighbors in need who are marginalized.

A senior official from the Presidential Office stated, "This year, only those at the senior secretary level or above voluntarily agreed to this initiative (to share warmth)," adding, "We plan to continue these donations next year as well."

The Presidential Office reportedly withholds 10% of the monthly salary of political appointees at the level of senior officials or higher, including President Yoon (approximately 2 million KRW per month), and donates it monthly to organizations such as the Korean Red Cross to assist vulnerable groups who find it difficult to feel warmth due to the slow economic recovery.

This marks the second consecutive year that senior officials at the level of senior secretaries or above in the Presidential Office have donated 10% of their salaries. Last year, senior secretaries and political appointees at the ministerial and vice-ministerial levels across all ministries donated 10% of their salaries to organizations such as the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.

A Presidential Office official added, "There is a strong internal consensus to spread a culture of donation," emphasizing, "This is different from the blanket return of salaries that took place last year."
