GH Signs Agreement with Korea Forestry Promotion Institute on Carbon Neutrality and ESG Management Practices on the 2nd

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) signed a business agreement with the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute on the 2nd at its headquarters in Gwanggyo, Suwon City, to mutually cooperate in practicing ESG management in the forestry sector and achieving carbon neutrality.


According to the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate in various fields to respond to the climate crisis and create a carbon-neutral leading city by securing carbon sinks through parks and green spaces in the 3rd new town, activating external projects under the forestry sector emissions trading system, and promoting forestry carbon offset projects.

Through this agreement, GH will actively participate in external projects under the forestry-based emissions trading system and forestry carbon offset projects, strengthening its net-zero (net zero greenhouse gas emissions) activities. Additionally, it will seek eco-friendly construction and efficient use of forest resources through cooperation to expand domestic wood and Korea Forest Certification products.


The Korea Forestry Promotion Institute will support GH with consulting on external projects under the forestry sector emissions trading system and forestry carbon offset projects, as well as provide education and technical advice for managing carbon sink projects.


Kim Se-yong, President of GH, emphasized, "This agreement is an important opportunity to recognize the importance of forests and lay the foundation for practicing ESG management," adding, "We will continue cooperation with the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute to create a carbon-neutral leading city and a sustainable society."
