Held on the 5th at Goyang Sports Complex
Theme: 'A New Challenge Toward Becoming a Global Performance Hub City'
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 2nd that it will hold the ‘2024 Goyang Culture and Arts Policy Forum’ at the press room of Goyang Sports Complex from 4 PM to 6 PM on the 5th.
This forum, under the theme ‘Goyang’s New Challenge Toward Becoming a Global Performance Hub City,’ will focus on the achievements and future development directions of Goyang’s large-scale performance attraction pilot project in 2024, viewed through the lens of experts.
At the forum, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City will participate as a discussant. A special interview between music critic Lim Hee-yoon and Mayor Lee Dong-hwan will be held on the topic ‘How Goyang Rapidly Emerged as a Sanctuary for Popular Music Performances.’
Following this, Professor Lee Kyu-tak of George Mason University Korea will analyze ‘The Achievements and Significance of the Large-Scale Performance Attraction Project at Goyang Sports Complex’ through a presentation. Experts including Senior Researcher Kwon Sun-young of the Goyang City Policy Research Institute, citizens of Goyang, and Seo Eun-won, Director of the Goyang City Culture and Arts Division, will engage in a free discussion on the theme ‘For Goyang to Become a Global Concert Mecca Visited by Ten Million People.’
Participants will also have the opportunity to directly experience Goyang’s performance infrastructure through networking time and a tour of the Goyang Sports Complex facilities.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “This forum is a meaningful occasion to discuss the future vision for Goyang’s leap into an international performance hub city,” adding, “It will be an opportunity to gather broad opinions along with continuous efforts to revitalize local culture and arts.”
He continued, “As this is an important event to explore new possibilities for Goyang as a global performance hub city, we hope that cultural and arts professionals, researchers, performance planners, and citizens who support Goyang’s cultural growth will all participate together.”
