Construction Starts in January Next Year... 1,240 Households to Be Supplied
Seoul City will select a construction company this month for the 'Songpa Creative Innovation Public Housing' project, which will build 1,240 public housing units on the site of the former Seongdong Detention Center.
On the 2nd, Seoul City announced that two companies, the Gyeryong Construction Industry Consortium and the Kumho Construction Consortium, were deemed qualified in the basic design technical proposal bidding evaluation for the 'Songpa Creative Innovation Public Housing Construction Project.'
The design scores were 93.65 points for the Gyeryong Construction Industry Consortium and 83.45 points for the Kumho Construction Consortium. After conducting a price review, the final qualified design contractor will be decided within this month.
This project, promoted as a pilot project for urban and architectural design innovation, will supply a total of 1,240 households in Garak-dong 162 area, Songpa-gu, with buildings ranging from three basement floors to 22 above-ground floors. Some of these units will be offered as long-term rentals for newlyweds.
Once selected as the qualified detailed design contractor, priority construction will begin in January next year. Subsequently, after the detailed design qualification review in April next year, the main construction will commence, aiming for completion in December 2028.
The city conducted the final design evaluation after holding review plan briefings, joint briefings, and technical review meetings with the Gyeryong Construction Industry Consortium and the Kumho Construction Consortium, who participated in the bidding. A discussion session between companies was also held to ensure thoroughness in the review by comparing designs and verifying facts.
The design review subcommittee consists of a total of 15 review members. Two members from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s central design review subcommittee also participated.
Kim Chang-hwan, Seoul City’s Technical Review Officer, said, "We will continue to strive to secure administrative reliability," adding, "We will thoroughly verify and manage the upcoming design and construction processes to realize creative design and improve residential quality."
