Pocheon City Conducts Second Half Year Capacity Building and Healing Training for Care Workers

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 2nd that it conducted a second half capacity-building and healing education session for elderly care workers at the Foreigners Support Center on the 29th of last month.

This education was organized as part of the family-friendly (care) environment creation project, one of the five major goals for establishing a women-friendly city, to raise awareness of the social value of care and to help heal the mind and body of care workers.

Thirty elderly care workers, including care helpers and customized elderly care life support workers, participated in this second half education. In the first half of the year, education was conducted for child care workers.

The education consisted of ▲gender sensitivity enhancement training ▲healing programs using aromatherapy, among others. It was designed to alleviate the physical and mental stress experienced by care workers in the care labor field and to support sustainable work.

A Pocheon City official stated, “We plan to establish systematic and practical support measures to continue respecting the value of care workers,” adding, “We will strive to improve community welfare by helping care work to be carried out in a better environment.”
