Shinan-gun's Distinctive 'Island·Island Project' Shines Bright

Excellence Award at the Welfare Service Competition Hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety

Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do recently received an Excellence Award at the ‘2024 Eup-Myeon-Dong Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Best Practice Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and was awarded a special grant of 25 million KRW.

According to the county on the 2nd, despite the challenging conditions of the island region, the expansion of visiting social services targeting middle-aged and older adults and efforts to diversify social service providers through cooperation with specialized private institutions were recognized for excellence in the government evaluation.

The county is actively promoting diversification of social service providers through the ongoing ‘Island-to-Island Project’ conducted in partnership with the Jeonnam Social Service Institute and Sangsaengnamu under a business agreement. This project, which runs for three years until 2025, provides differentiated social services by offering lunchbox side dish delivery, visiting psychological counseling services, mobile bathing services, and science magic experience and performance programs.

County Governor Park Woo-ryang stated, “This award marks a new starting point for providing better welfare services in our county,” and added, “We will do our best to provide higher quality welfare services to our residents who pursue a happy life.”

Meanwhile, Shinan-gun plans to use this award as a stepping stone to continue efforts for the development of the local community and the improvement of residents’ quality of life.
