"Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed"... 456 People 'Frozen' in the Middle of Paris

Season 2 Release Commemoration Large-Scale Event Held

The Netflix drama "Squid Game," which sparked a global craze, is set to return with Season 2, and Netflix is also pushing forward with global marketing. A large-scale event with hundreds of participants took place in the bustling streets of Paris, France.

On the 1st (local time), according to "Yonhap News," a "Squid Game"-related event was held on the busy Champs-?lys?es street in Paris. In the middle of the street stood "Young-hee," the tagger from the game "Mugunghwa Kkoci Pieot Seumnida" (similar to "Red Light, Green Light") featured in Squid Game, and 456 participants wearing green tracksuits stood about 200 meters away on the opposite side.

In the drama, this game was a terrifying one where participants who moved while in the "ice" state were shot and eliminated by hidden shooters. For the French version of the game, sensors detecting body movement were attached to the participants to replace this mechanism.

That day, Paris was hit by a cold wave. However, the participants who were "frozen" could not move their hands even if their noses ran. Some participants in the leading group moved recklessly, stumbled, and were led out of the arena by the "Pink Guards."

The event, which involved hundreds of participants, was conducted as a team competition with three famous French influencers as team leaders. Despite the weather feeling like 4 degrees Celsius, the participants' reactions were enthusiastic. One participant told the media, "I am a huge fan of Squid Game," and added, "Getting to play the game in person is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I decided to join."

The event was organized by Netflix to promote "Squid Game 2," scheduled to be released on the 26th. Joachim Twill, a spokesperson for Netflix France, said, "There are many fans in France who love Squid Game," and added, "We thought about how to celebrate the return of this series with Season 2, and this event came to mind."

Netflix France will also host a special preview screening of the first two episodes of Season 2 on the 10th at a large theater in central Paris, inviting 2,800 passionate Squid Game fans.
