Discussion on Cooperation Measures for Workforce Development and Job Creation

Park Sang-chul, President of Honam University, visited Optonics Co., Ltd., a specialized company in laser and ultra-precision optical components located in Buk-gu, Gwangju, on the afternoon of the 29th of last month to discuss cooperation plans for workforce development and job creation through industry-academia collaboration.


Attending the visit were President Park Sang-chul, Jung Je-pyeong, Director of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Group, Lee Eun-kyung, Director of the AI Convergence Talent Development Project Group, Yang Seung-hak, Specially Appointed Professor of Industry-Academia Cooperation Group, Kim Kwang-taek, Head of the Department of Robotics and Drone Engineering, Ha Yoon-joo, Head of the Department of Nursing, Kim Han-seok, Professor of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Group, and Noh Sang-hwi, Deputy Head of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Group.


Optonics Co., Ltd., established in December 2004, produces core components in the ultra-precision optical field across military, industrial, and medical industries based on top-level domestic technology. The company mainly manufactures key optical components used in ultra-precision laser inertial navigation sensor systems utilizing its core technologies. Its Life Care product, Tango Plus, focuses on welfare equipment manufacturing and various senior technology businesses such as living houses to address social issues in the ultra-aged society.


On this day, Lee Yong-beom, Chairman of Optonics, said, “We hope that operating various industry-academia cooperation programs linked with Honam University will become an opportunity for mutual growth between the two institutions.”


President Park Sang-chul stated, “Optonics is growing into a leading company based on excellent technology in the ultra-precision optical field, and through industry-academia cooperation with Optonics, which is engaged in essential life care business and organic waste treatment business for the ultra-aged society, we hope to carry out joint projects and promote win-win strategies.” He added, “In addition, we will do our best to nurture talent in the fields of care services and senior technology so that they can be linked to employment.”


This corporate visit by Honam University President Park Sang-chul is the 16th since 2023, and there are plans to continue discovering and visiting outstanding local companies in the future.
