Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education Strives to Diversify Career Education According to Student Development Stages

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 1st that it will hold the '2024 Gyeonggi Career Education Performance Sharing Meeting' at Seoul National University Siheung Campus on the 2nd.

Hosted and organized by the Provincial Office of Education, this event was prepared to share cases of diversification of career education according to students' developmental stages and to discuss the direction of Gyeonggi career education together.


About 150 people are expected to attend the event, including representatives from the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, career teachers in elementary, middle, and high schools, managers of career experience support centers from 31 cities and provinces, and education support office supervisors.


The event will be conducted in three parts: Part 1 - Career education that unfolds students' dreams through regional cooperation; Part 2 - Career education that develops competencies through school autonomy; and Part 3 - Online career education that expands learning beyond time and space.


Part 1 will begin with a special lecture by Researcher Jin Sook-kyung of the Gyeonggi Research Institute of Education titled "Measures to Enhance Career Experience Linked to Curriculum for Strengthening Competency-Centered Career Education." Following this, there will be sessions on strengthening regional-linked career education, including △ career counseling (mentoring) operation cases for vulnerable groups △ development of materials for application in school career classes △ diagnosis (consulting) of career experience sites and excellent cases of quality management.


Parts 2 and 3 will focus on career education conducted at schools and online, featuring △ development of materials for application in school career classes △ career education class cases for the 2022 revised curriculum. Additionally, there will be guidance related to the establishment of an AI-based career and academic guidance support system.


During the breakout discussions, participants will discuss the roles and differences of career education by stakeholders and regions, and share and explore ways to disseminate best practices.


Kim Sung-jin, Director of Career and Vocational Education at the Provincial Office of Education, said, "I thank the school teachers and career experience support center staff who work hard for Gyeonggi career education, where students' dreams become the future," adding, "We will support schools, regions, and online career education to cooperate complementarily and organically so that all students can grow into future talents equipped with character and competencies."
