At the inauguration ceremony held on November 29, the 8th Naval Submarine Commander, Colonel Kang Dong-gu, stated, "I consider it an immense honor to be entrusted with the important responsibility of Submarine Commander. Colonel Kang graduated from the Naval Academy as part of the 48th class and was commissioned in 1994. He is a submarine expert with extensive command experience and expertise, having served in key positions including submarine captain, Chief of the Naval Headquarters Secretariat, and Director of Strategic Planning at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as various important naval and land assignments.
