Sportswear company Adidas' 'toe shoes' continue to sell out despite harsh criticism.

Adidas recently collaborated with Italian fashion brand AVAVAV to showcase the 'Superfinger Superstar Shoes' at Milan Fashion Week. This brand is a Florence-based ready-to-wear label, which means the clothes are made according to set standards to fit multiple body sizes rather than tailored for specific individuals. It is characterized by various color patterns, asymmetrical draping, cutouts, and pleated details.

Adidas combined AVAVAV's signature item, patent leather boots shaped like hands, with Adidas' iconic 'Superstar' model. The signature design of AVAVAV can be attached and detached from the existing shoes. The colors black and red were released first. The price was set at $250 (approximately 350,000 KRW).

According to foreign media such as the New York Post, AVAVAV's creative director Beate Karlsson said, "We are happy to collaborate with Adidas, which has a strong DNA," and described it as "a meeting of sports and fashion." Adidas stated, "Because the Superfinger is completely detachable, users can choose to wear the Superfinger during sports activities or just wear the sneakers alone."

However, online reactions are mixed with ridicule, calling the shoes "alien shoes," "I'd rather buy another pair of shoes," "high chance of tripping while walking," and "if this is fashion, treatment is needed," posting critical comments.

Despite the harsh criticism, Superfinger sizes 280-290 have sold out online. Since AVAVAV's hand-shaped leather boots range in price from the mid-1,000,000 KRW to 4,000,000 KRW range, purchasing the Adidas product allows fashion enthusiasts to get the Superstar shoes with detachable accessories for 350,000 KRW, making it attractive to fashion lovers.
