A collision occurred between a passenger car and a subway near Geumcheon-gu Office Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1.
At around 6:46 a.m. on the 1st, a passenger car near Geumcheon-gu Office Station on Subway Line 1 broke through the track protection wall and entered the tracks, colliding with the Seodongtan southbound train. Yonhap News
According to Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) on the 1st, at around 6:46 a.m., a passenger car broke through the track protection wall near Geumcheon-gu Office Station in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and crossed onto the tracks, colliding with a southbound subway heading from Geumcheon-gu Office Station to Seoksu Station.
The accident vehicle had a driver and a passenger on board. They were injured but avoided a major accident by getting off immediately after the vehicle stopped on the tracks after breaking through the wall.
About 300 people were on the subway. None of the passengers were injured. They got off at Geumcheon-gu Office Station around 7:35 a.m., about 50 minutes after the accident, and transferred to another subway. The southbound Line 1 operated on a single track instead of the usual two tracks and resumed normal operation at 9:02 a.m.
KORAIL stated that there was no disruption to the northbound operation. The police plan to investigate the detailed circumstances of the accident by questioning the driver and others involved.
