On the 29th, a video containing an interview with actress Moon Geun-young was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'COSMOPOLITAN Korea.' Moon, who recently disclosed that she is dieting, said, "I gained weight quite rapidly because I was having fun," and added, "I am trying to lose weight healthily even if it takes time."
She explained, "I go for a walk right after waking up in the morning, eat three meals a day with healthy foods that are good for the body, and also exercise." She continued, "Previously, I always had to diet, avoiding certain foods and living with hunger, but I have come to enjoy eating. I found recipes and enjoyed making and eating food, which led to weight gain."
Walking, considered one of the simplest exercises, helps burn body fat and aids in maintaining and reducing weight. Especially, doing aerobic exercise like walking on an empty stomach right after waking up is known to enhance weight loss effects. During exercise, carbohydrates and fats are burned together, but in a fasting state, carbohydrates are lacking, so body fat is mainly burned.
Also, it is important to eat well while dieting. If you lose weight by starving yourself indiscriminately, your stamina decreases, muscle mass is lost, and metabolism slows down. This results in a reduced basal metabolic rate, eventually turning into a "body type prone to gaining weight." Furthermore, the thought that you must starve can become obsessive, which in severe cases may lead to eating disorders. According to domestic research, people who eat three meals a day have better health profiles?including weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, total cholesterol, and triglyceride levels?compared to those who do not.
Meanwhile, Moon Geun-young had to undergo surgery four times due to acute compartment syndrome. Compartment syndrome is a condition where increased internal pressure within compartments divided by fascia or membranes between bones in the arms or legs leads to swelling and necrosis. Although concerns about her health grew as it was reported that she gained weight due to side effects from the surgeries and treatments, she has now announced her full recovery after continuous treatment and management.
