The Presidential Office stated on the 30th that the Democratic Party of Korea's unilateral passage of next year's budget bill, which only reflected cuts without any increases in the National Assembly's Budget and Accounts Committee, is an "excessive budget spree following legislative rampage."
A Presidential Office official criticized the Democratic Party's handling of the budget cuts on the same day, saying, "For the first time in constitutional history, the opposition party alone passed a budget cut bill in the Budget and Accounts Committee, which is an excessive budget spree following legislative rampage and a tyranny of the majority ignoring the livelihood of the people," adding, "The damage caused by this will directly fall on the people."
The Democratic Party of Korea unilaterally passed next year's budget bill in the National Assembly's Budget and Accounts Committee the day before, reflecting only cuts without any increases. This is an unprecedented event in constitutional history where the budget bill was passed solely by the opposition party in the Budget and Accounts Committee. The budget bill passed by the committee was reduced by 4.1 trillion won from the government's original proposal of 677.4 trillion won.
Special activity expenses of the Presidential Secretariat and National Security Office (8.251 billion won), prosecution's specific task expenses (50.691 billion won) and special activity expenses (8.09 billion won), Board of Audit and Inspection's special task expenses (4.5 billion won) and special activity expenses (1.5 billion won), and police special activity expenses (3.16 billion won) were all fully cut.
