The comprehensive evaluation of forest sectors among cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province is conducted annually for 31 local governments within Gyeonggi Province. It selects outstanding cities and counties by comprehensively assessing forest policies and forest project performance.

The evaluation criteria include six categories: forest policy (special and excellent policies, publicity achievements, etc.), forest disasters (forest fire prevention, landslide prevention), forest resources (afforestation, wood utilization, forest roads), forest recreation, forest pests and diseases, and mountain area management.

Pocheon City was selected as the best institution by achieving excellent results in all categories. In particular, active special and excellent policies such as creating and installing resting spaces using waste wood, the project to create a forest cultural recreation space at the Banwol Mountain Fortress historic site, the construction project of the forest fire response center, and the creation of the cloud trail on Unak Mountain in the Hanbuk Jeongmaek mountain range were highly evaluated for contributing to the development of forest policies.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon City said, “We will use this achievement as a stepping stone to continue to devote ourselves to forest sector work and do our best to create a healthy and sustainable green Pocheon forest,” adding, “We will also actively discover forest policies that can lead future forest projects.”
