Paju City Holds National Assembly Forum on Building a Railway Network for Paju's Leap to 1 Million Population

The 'Closer Paju, Railway Network Construction for the Leap to 1 Million Paju' National Assembly Forum, which will present the railway vision managed by Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il), was successfully held on the 29th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Yeouido, Seoul.

Co-hosted by Paju City and National Assembly members Yoon Hoo-duk and Park Jung, the forum was attended by about 100 people including Park Dae-sung, Chairman of the Paju City Council; Jung Jin-hyuk, President of the Korean Society of Transportation; Yoo Jung-hoon, Senior Vice President of the Korean Society of Transportation; Lee Ho, Director of the Railway Transportation Research Division at the Korea Transport Institute; Lee Jae-hoon, Senior Specialist at T-Lab Transportation Policy Research Institute; Ryu Si-gyun, Senior Research Fellow at the Gyeonggi Research Institute; and Dr. Oh Dong-ik of T-Lab Transportation Policy Research Institute, creating a lively atmosphere.


Dr. Oh Dong-ik of T-Lab Transportation Policy Research Institute analyzed the current transportation status of Paju in his keynote presentation and proposed the 'Four Major Tasks for the Railway Sector to Leap to 1 Million Paju,' presenting a vision for railway network construction.


Following this, Jung Jin-hyuk, President of the Korean Society of Transportation, chaired a heated discussion with Yoo Jung-hoon, Senior Vice President of the Korean Society of Transportation; Lee Ho, Director of the Railway Transportation Research Division at the Korea Transport Institute; Lee Jae-hoon, Senior Specialist at T-Lab Transportation Policy Research Institute; and Ryu Si-gyun, Senior Research Fellow at the Gyeonggi Research Institute, deeply discussing future plans for Paju’s railway network construction.


Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju emphasized in his congratulatory speech, “The GTX era will open at the end of this year, and the railway era will officially begin in Paju with KTX and the Seohae Line,” adding, “We will not be complacent with these achievements and will do our utmost to ensure that the extension of Line 3, the establishment of the Tongil Line, the extension of KTX to Munsan, and the GTX-H line are reflected in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan.” He further stated, “Standing at the center of the transportation revolution, we will expand Paju’s railway network to realize the vision of a self-sufficient city of 1 million.”
