Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 29th that two projects, "Improvement of the Main Stadium and Walkways at the Comprehensive Sports Complex" and "Buryong Tunnel Disability-Friendly Park Golf Course," were selected in Gyeonggi Province's '2025 Sports Promotion Facility Support Project' competition, securing 1.439 billion KRW in provincial funding.
This competition project was established to create healthy leisure sports spaces, improve citizens' health and quality of life, and expand community sports facilities.
Uijeongbu City applied mainly for projects around sports facilities where residents have continuously raised complaints about aging and safety issues, as well as projects with high demand for sports facility installations.
With this selection, the facility improvements around the Nogyang-dong Comprehensive Sports Complex and the creation of a sports park above the Buryong Tunnel in Minrak-dong are expected to gain momentum.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "We will continue to expand community sports and public sports facilities to enhance sports welfare," adding, "We will do our best to develop Uijeongbu City into a healthy city."
