No.1 in Carbon Neutral Lifestyle Practices in the Province

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it received the Gyeongsangnam-do Governor’s Institutional Commendation in the ‘Carbon Neutral Lifestyle Practice’ category for its outstanding greenhouse gas reduction activities and climate change-related policies in the evaluation of the ‘2024 Carbon Neutral Lifestyle Practice Movement’ hosted by Gyeongsangnam-do.

This evaluation targeted all 18 cities and counties within Gyeongnam Province, assessing factors such as the carbon neutral lifestyle promotion campaign, carbon neutral point system subscription rate, expansion of citizen education on carbon neutrality, the pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1 ton per person, and additional points for excellent climate change-related policies. Changwon Special City was selected as the top city in the city category.

Since 2014, the city has continuously implemented climate change response and greenhouse gas reduction activities by designating the 22nd of every month as ‘Climate Action Day’ through the nation’s first ordinance. It has consistently operated carbon neutral campaigns and climate crisis experience promotion booths targeting citizens.
