Samsung Electronics conducted its regular executive personnel reshuffle on the 29th, focusing on placing young talents in their 30s and 40s at the forefront and discovering future growth businesses such as artificial intelligence (AI), 6G, and next-generation semiconductors. This move is interpreted as a declaration of intent to boldly overcome the challenges facing the company by replacing generations with talents armed with youthful vigor and sensibility, thereby strengthening growth momentum.
Following the appointment of presidents, Samsung Electronics also carried out a regular personnel reshuffle for executives including vice presidents and general managers on the same day, promoting 137 people. This includes 35 vice presidents, 92 general managers, and 10 masters. Although this is six fewer than the 143 promotions last year, it is evaluated that more new talents with experience and capabilities have been discovered.
In particular, the remarkable advancement of those in their 40s draws attention. There are quite a few people in their 40s who were promoted to vice president. It appears that they were appointed considering the characteristics of this age group, which combines accumulated experience and know-how with an undiminished spirit of challenge. Vice President Noh Kyung-rae, Head of Sales Strategy Group of the VD (Visual Display) Business Division in the DX Division, aged 48, and Vice President Lee Gui-ho, Head of Advertising Service Group of the VD Business Division in the same division, aged 49, were promoted.
Samsung Electronics explained, "To boldly and challengingly overcome the uncertain internal and external management environment, we selected young leaders who have excellent management performance and growth potential."
By field, talents were placed in future growth areas such as semiconductor design, software development, AI, and next-generation communications. This is interpreted as an intention to strengthen the global competition and technology gap strategy that Samsung Electronics has recently faced. Park Jung-ho, Deputy Head of the Next-Generation Communications Research Center and CTO of the DX Division, aged 50, was promoted to vice president. He is a communications expert who has achieved results in the development and commercialization of 5G advanced technologies and is leading the development of next-generation communication technologies applying AI technology and the establishment of the 6G ecosystem. This is regarded as a case where Samsung Electronics selected a core leader to secure 6G technology dominance. General Manager Chae Kyo-seok of the Memory Business Division in the DS Division, aged 46, who was promoted this time, is a DRAM product device expert who led the development of the world's highest capacity D1b 32Gb DDR5 product.
Samsung Electronics also strengthened future leadership by promoting leaders expected to produce results and play key roles to vice president. Vice President Noh Kyung-rae is a VD product sales expert with extensive experience in marketing and overseas sales. He was evaluated to have contributed to expanding the market share of premium product lines and the aggressive sell-out of new products. Vice President Lee Gui-ho is a service business expert who has built the foundation of VD advertising services from the early stages. He was recognized for leading advertising service sales growth and creating new advertising business opportunities.
Samsung Electronics' personnel policy of discovering talents regardless of age, gender, or nationality continued this year as well. Ha Ji-hoon, General Manager of the Communication Software Research Team at the CTO SR of the DX Division, aged 39, was the youngest executive promoted in this reshuffle. He is an expert in designing next-generation communication software platforms who led the development and commercialization of core software technologies, strengthening communication business competitiveness by leading differentiated vRAN (Radio Access Network) technology. Among verified female and foreign leaders, Seo Jeong-ah, Head of the Digital Commerce Team of the MX Business Division in the DX Division, aged 53, who was promoted to vice president, stands out. Vice President Seo is an online business expert who contributed to sales expansion by activating promotions through strengthening partnerships with trading partners and executing data-driven sales strategies. In the DX Division's Southeast Asia Headquarters TSE-S Corporation, the only foreign executive promoted was General Manager Citychok, aged 46, from Thailand. As a sales expert, he continuously grew sales of MX flagship products and demonstrated sales leadership by discovering sell-out platform cases that can be globally expanded.
