Business Agreement with Korea Automobile Environment Association
Job Transition Training for People in Their 40s
The Seoul Metropolitan Government, together with the Korea Automobile Environment Association, is embarking on a job creation initiative for people in their 40s who dream of career transitions into the future automotive sector.
On the 29th, Seoul announced that the Seoul 50 Plus Foundation under its jurisdiction and the Korea Automobile Environment Association signed a business agreement to collaborate on discovering career transition training models.

The Seoul 50 Plus Foundation is a public institution established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to support the middle-aged generation (ages 40-64) preparing for the latter half of life, providing career planning, vocational education, employment, and entrepreneurship support. It also operates career transition programs aimed at supporting people in their 40s, who have been in a policy blind spot.
The Association is a statutory organization established to improve air quality and promote public health and happiness, with 44 member companies cooperating in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure industry. It is committed to reducing fine dust emissions from internal combustion engine vehicles and expanding the distribution of zero-emission vehicles to achieve the government's national greenhouse gas reduction targets.
Earlier, the Association supported the training and qualification examination for the private certification 'Charging Facility Manager,' which has been operated since this year for participants of the Foundation’s career camp for people in their 40s. From July to October this year, the Foundation’s career camp course for people in their 40s, titled 'Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Manager,' attracted high interest due to the rapidly increasing demand for professionals in line with the government’s plan to expand electric vehicle infrastructure.
A total of 35 people participated in the course, of whom 28 took the newly established private certification training for 'Charging Facility Manager' this year, and 26 completed the course. Among the graduates, 23 took the qualification exam and passed, obtaining the certification. The 'Charging Facility Manager' is an expert who performs operation and maintenance of charging facilities based on knowledge of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and electric vehicles, and demand for this essential workforce is expected to increase with the future spread of electric vehicles.
Jung Jong-seon, President of the Korea Automobile Environment Association, said, "While operating the career camp for people in their 40s together with the Foundation this year, we saw high interest in the electric vehicle market and strong willingness for career transition." He added, "We will not only support employment for the 23 who passed the first Charging Facility Manager qualification exam but also activate joint projects to cultivate professionals in the electric vehicle field and work with the Foundation to create jobs and connect employment suitable for the middle-aged generation in the electric vehicle industry."
Hwang Yoon-joo, Head of Business Operations at the Seoul 50 Plus Foundation, stated, "People in their 40s in Seoul are deeply considering the latter half of their lives and have a strong willingness to learn and transition careers into new industrial fields." She continued, "Taking this business agreement as an opportunity, we will strengthen the discovery of new jobs and vocational training in the future automotive sector, and actively support job matching by linking programs from education to mentoring and internships, while discovering new job opportunities in various fields."
