Conservative media and Trump supporters mockingly ask, "Did she drink?"
On the 5th, Vice President Kamala Harris, who was defeated in the U.S. presidential election, appeared in public for the first time in about three weeks, showing a more gaunt appearance that has elicited mixed reactions from both supporters and opponents. On the 26th, the U.S. Democratic Party released a 28-second edited video of a virtual meeting Harris held to express gratitude to her supporters on the party's X (formerly Twitter) account.
On the 26th (local time), the U.S. Democratic Party posted a video on their X account showing Vice President Harris encouraging her supporters. X
In the video, Vice President Harris emphasized, "Don't let anyone take your power away from you. You have the same power you had before November 5th," adding, "You have the same purpose you had before, and the same ability to engage and inspire. So I hope you don't allow any circumstances to take your power away."
As of the 29th, the video had been viewed over 30,000 times, but contrary to Harris's message, her appearance showed differences from before. While comforting supporters who may have been disappointed by the election results in a somewhat serious and passionate tone, the cheerful smiles and vitality she showed throughout the campaign were absent, causing concern among some supporters and netizens.
On the other hand, some conservative media outlets such as Fox News and Republican supporters mocked her, saying "Harris seems to be speaking while intoxicated," and supporters of President-elect Donald Trump have captured images of Harris in the video and are using them like memes. Some have pointed out that "it was a promotional strategy mistake for the Democratic Party to post such a video."
However, on the 28th, Vice President Harris reassured her base by posting a Thanksgiving video on her X account, showing her smiling with her husband, Doug Emhoff, and expressing gratitude. She said, "Today we gather to share food with family or friends and to give thanks to all those who serve our country," and wished everyone a "Happy Thanksgiving."
