In June, the Office of Education selected 63 focus high schools to develop and pilot operation models for the 2022 revised curriculum.

The selected high schools have been working on developing 1 to 2 operation models related to the main aspects of the revised curriculum: △ school-led activity hours △ semester-based curriculum design △ career-linked education. The Office of Education established a focus school policy implementation team and supported model development at school sites through customized school consulting and professional counseling.

The results-sharing meeting is structured based on understanding the key contents of the 2022 revised curriculum and consists of introductions to △ school-led activity hours operation models △ semester-based curriculum design models △ career-linked education operation models. Participants will be divided into small groups by topic for intensive training.

During the intensive training, using the 2025 academic schedule, participants will practice the 2025 school-led activity hours operation plan, which includes △ ensuring minimum achievement levels △ student choice programs △ subject operation.

Additionally, the characteristics of the 2025 curriculum organization, which will vary by school, will be examined, and cases overcoming difficulties in semester-based curriculum design will be introduced. Finally, cases of career-linked education connected with subjects and creative experiential activities, as well as career-linked education during school level transitions, will be shared.

Kim Yoon-gi, Director of Curriculum Policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, “We hope this sharing meeting will serve as a stepping stone to strengthen teachers’ capabilities in designing and operating the 2022 revised high school curriculum,” adding, “We will strive to expand support for high school curriculum operation in line with the introduction of the high school credit system by designating additional focus schools in the 2025 academic year.”
