Geumcheon-gu Single-Person Household Kimchi-Making Event 'Baechu Kimchi Sarang Geollyeonne' Held

November 30th, 10 AM Geumcheon-gu Family Center Hosts Kimchi-Making and Sharing Event for Single-Person Households and Vulnerable Groups
Pre-registration Completed with 30 Single-Person Household Participants from Geumcheon-gu

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that on November 30th at 10 a.m., it will hold a kimchi-making event for single-person households called ‘Baechu Kimchi Sarang Geollyeotne’ at the Geumcheon-gu Office cafeteria.

The event is designed to support healthy eating habits by holding a kimchi-making event for single-person households and to provide an opportunity for single-person households in the community to communicate together.

Additionally, through the experience of making kimchi directly, it aims to reduce economic burdens and spread a sense of community and a culture of sharing by delivering some of the kimchi made to vulnerable groups within the community.

About 30 single-person households will participate in the event. Divided into five teams, participants will learn how to make kimchi under the guidance of assistant instructors and each will make 10kg of kimchi.

On the day, a total of 400kg of kimchi will be made; half will be distributed to the participants, and the rest will be delivered to vulnerable groups in the community and youth weekend dining facilities.

After the kimchi-making activity, participants will have time to communicate while tasting the kimchi they made and prepared boiled pork. Afterwards, feedback will be collected through a satisfaction survey to reflect participants’ opinions in future event operations and program improvements.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope this kimchi-making event will help emotional exchange among single-person households and serve as an opportunity to spread a warm culture of sharing in the community. We will continue to promote various support policies for healthy eating and communication for single-person households.”

The district is conducting various projects and events targeting single-person households. In July, it supported the ‘Safe Home 3-piece Set’ including home CCTV, intelligent (smart) doorbells, and front door safety devices. Also, in September, it held a health walking challenge called ‘Welcome Chicken Run’ for single-person households, providing a platform for communication among them.
