Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it is continuously recruiting companies to participate in pop-up stores and pop-up exhibitions at Theater ss within the ‘Seongsu Industrial Culture Complex Theme Space’ and the ‘Seongsu Handmade Shoes Hope Platform.’


Seongsu-dong is home to many trend-leading brands and has a high floating population mainly among young people, playing an important role in revitalizing the local economy of Seongdong-gu.


Accordingly, since 2022, the district has created a space for pop-up stores at Theater ss within the ‘Seongsu Industrial Culture Complex Theme Space’ near Seongsu Station on Subway Line 2 (2nd floor, Exit 4 direction) to support raising awareness and market development for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners in the area.


Additionally, the ‘Seongsu Handmade Shoes Hope Platform’ near Ttukseom Station is operated as a pop-up exhibition hall and showcase space. From 2017 to 2022, it was used as an exhibition space for handmade shoes, but since 2023, it has been utilized as a product exhibition, promotion, and event space for SMEs, small business owners, and emerging artists in Seongdong-gu to promote the local commercial district.

Pop-up store operators are given priority if they are SMEs or small business owners with business locations in Seongdong-gu, but artists, start-ups, and prospective entrepreneurs with ties to Seongdong-gu can also apply.


Participating companies can sell and promote products up to five times a year, for 1 to 5 days per session. The participation fee is 50,000 KRW per day for sales events. For small business owners, usage fees are supported up to 100,000 KRW per session, up to three times a year. Furthermore, if the event is for exhibition or promotion only, the usage fee is waived.


Companies wishing to participate in pop-up stores or pop-up exhibitions can apply by filling out the application form (refer to the public notice section) on the Seongdong-gu Office website and submitting it along with supporting documents either by visiting the Seongdong-gu Office Regional Economy Division or via email.


The district operated pop-up stores 8 times last year and a total of 14 times until October this year, and held pop-up exhibitions 16 times last year and 8 times until November this year.


Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We hope that the pop-up stores and exhibition spaces utilizing the ‘Seongsu Industrial Culture Complex Theme Space’ and the ‘Seongsu Handmade Shoes Hope Platform’ will greatly help SMEs and small business owners in the area who are struggling due to the ongoing economic downturn by supporting their market development.” He added, “We hope this will be an opportunity to widely promote excellent products with competitiveness, and we will continue to pursue support policies to revitalize the local economy.”
