Busan Gijang-gun Conducts Joint Campaign with Related Organizations to Eradicate Child Abuse

Collaboration Between Civil, Public, and Police Sectors on 'Child Abuse Prevention Week'

Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) recently conducted a joint public awareness campaign involving civilians, government, and police to prevent child abuse in observance of the "Child Abuse Prevention Week (11.19?11.25)."

The campaign took place on the 21st at the Jeonggwan-eup Education Happiness Center and on the 25th at Haebit Elementary School in Ilgwang-eup.

Officials from Gijang-gun Office, Gijang Police Station, and Busan Eastern Child Protection Agency participated, focusing on promoting children's rights and guidelines for reporting child abuse during school dismissal and commuting times.

Additionally, to promote proper child-rearing and shift perceptions about child abuse, leaflets and promotional materials covering the ▲Positive Parenting 129 Principles ▲Child Abuse Checklist ▲Child Abuse Reporting Guide were distributed to local residents, encouraging active reporting upon suspicion of child abuse.

Governor Jeong Jong-bok stated, "The best way to prevent child abuse is to cultivate sensitivity, watch over those around us, and create a social atmosphere where suspected child abuse can be reported immediately." He added, "We will do our utmost to foster correct awareness of child abuse and to prevent it."

Gijang-gun has assigned dedicated officials for child abuse cases to strengthen expertise, maintaining a 24-hour response system and promptly responding to child abuse incidents requiring emergency dispatch. Furthermore, a regular information-sharing council involving related organizations is held monthly to maintain close cooperation among relevant agencies.
