The 61st Superintendent of the Naval Academy, Admiral Kim Kyung-ryul, Inaugurated

"I will do my best to nurture elite
defenders who will lead a strong navy and a maritime powerhouse" pledge

Lieutenant General Kim Kyung-ryul (Naval Academy Class 47) was inaugurated as the 61st Superintendent of the Korea Naval Academy.

The 61st Superintendent of the Naval Academy, Admiral Kim Kyung-ryul, Inaugurated Lieutenant General Kim Kyung-ryul, the 61st Superintendent of the Korea Naval Academy.

The Korea Naval Academy (hereinafter referred to as ‘KNA’) held the inauguration ceremony for the 61st Superintendent on the 28th at the Woongpo Auditorium on campus.


In his inaugural speech, the new Superintendent Kim stated, “I will do my best to foster ‘elite defenders of the nation’ who will lead a strong navy and a maritime powerhouse,” and emphasized, “We will strengthen education capabilities in advanced scientific technology to nurture ‘leaders of future battlefields in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.’”


He also called for “cultivating leadership that can win on the battlefield with intelligence, character, and courage,” and expressed his determination to create a “Korea Naval Academy where happiness permeates and all cadets and staff enjoy working.”


Admiral Kim Kyung-ryul graduated from the Korea Naval Academy in 1993 as part of the 47th class. He has held key naval and land positions including Commander of the Choi Young-class destroyer, Director of Defense Policy at the Ministry of National Defense, Commander of the 5th Naval Flotilla, Chief of Personnel at the ROK-US Combined Forces Command, and Commander of the 3rd Fleet.
