Guri-si Holds Regular Meeting of the Tap Water Evaluation Committee for the Second Half of the Year

The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 28th that it held the regular meeting of the 2024 second half Tap Water Evaluation Committee on the 27th.

Guri City holds the Tap Water Evaluation Committee twice a year to enhance the stability of tap water production and citizens' trust. This meeting was conducted with in-depth discussions on the achievements of 2024 and the plans for 2025.

According to the city, the tap water quality inspection results throughout the entire supply process from the water purification plant showed that all items, including general bacteria, lead, arsenic, and mercury, were either undetected or below the standard levels. The city also promoted the installation of facilities to remove small organisms (chironomids), improvement works on the wide-area water supply pipelines and aging pipes, and the replacement of old water meters.

The main plans for 2025 discussed included △ water source raw water (Han River) quality inspection △ setting tap water quality targets and inspecting water quality at household faucets ▲ citizen participation in water quality inspections and publicity △ realistic water supply fee adjustments △ improvement of aging water pipes △ support for upgrading pipes to prevent rust-colored water.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri stated, “We will continue to hold the Tap Water Evaluation Committee regularly to ensure a stable supply of tap water, and we will make our best efforts to provide citizens with clean tap water and operate advanced water supply facilities.”
