Global language artificial intelligence (AI) company DeepL is accelerating its entry into the Korean market. Along with unveiling its voice translation solution, 'DeepL Voice,' it has also added Korean language support to its large language model (LLM) designed specifically for translation.

On the 28th, DeepL held a press conference at the Grand Hyatt Seoul to introduce its new product and first voice translation solution, DeepL Voice. At the conference, Jarek Kutylowski, DeepL’s founder and CEO, gave a presentation.

CEO Jarek Kutylowski said, "Korea is one of the fastest-growing markets," adding, "When launching products, we consider customer demands, and in the case of DeepL Voice, Korean users and customers continuously requested Korean support, so we included it from the launch."

He continued, "We are well aware that Korean companies have a strong will to expand into the global market," and added, "We have high expectations that DeepL’s technology can contribute to the global business expansion of domestic companies."

DeepL Voice marks DeepL’s first foray into the voice-based translation field. It is released in two models: 'Voice for Meetings' and 'Voice for Conversations.'

Voice for Meetings integrates with Microsoft Teams, allowing meeting participants to speak in their preferred language while others can view real-time translated subtitles. The company stated that communicating in their native languages enables clearer communication and higher engagement, making previously difficult communication possible.

Voice for Conversations is a mobile solution designed for one-on-one face-to-face conversations. It offers subtitle translation in two viewing modes, allowing two people to simultaneously see the translated content on one device.

DeepL Voice has been launched for business subscribers worldwide. Voice translation currently supports 13 languages: Korean, English, German, Japanese, Swedish, Dutch, French, Turkish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Italian. Supported languages will be expanded in the future. For real-time subtitle translation, all 33 languages currently supported by the DeepL Translator are available.

At the conference, DeepL also announced the addition of Korean language support to its next-generation translation LLM. Released in July, this next-generation LLM is specially designed for translation, featuring proprietary data collected for translation and model tutoring by language experts.

The next-generation LLM, available for use with Korean, English, and Japanese combinations, is provided to users of the AI translation solution DeepL Pro. Users can choose to use either the next-generation LLM or the classic model in web, desktop application, and application programming interface (API) environments.

CEO Jarek Kutylowski explained, "With this update, we can provide an upgraded quality of translation service."
