On the 27th (local time), Golf.com and Golfweek in the United States reported that Crypto.com, a cryptocurrency trading and payment system company, has been confirmed as the title sponsor for the event next month where Scottie Scheffler (USA), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka (both USA) will compete.

Accordingly, the tournament has been named the ‘Crypto.com Showdown.’ Although this is not an official tournament but a pay-TV broadcast event, it is noteworthy as a competition among the four best golfers currently in the world. In particular, since the four players are the leading figures of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf respectively, the event is expected to gain additional interest as a battle of pride between the two organizations.

The winner will receive cryptocurrency equivalent to several million dollars. This is the first time that prize money has been paid in cryptocurrency at a major professional sports event in the United States. However, it has been reported that each of the four players will first receive a participation fee of 4 million dollars. The event will take place on December 17 at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
