Visited Hospital After a Month to Check the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
President Yoon Suk-yeol visited Seoul St. Mary's Hospital on the morning of the 28th, where the quintuplets born through the country's first natural pregnancy in September are hospitalized, the presidential office announced.
This hospital visit by President Yoon is his first in about a month since his visit to Jeju National University Hospital in October, and the 13th since the medical reform announcement in February. Notably, this is the first time a sitting president has visited a neonatal intensive care unit.
Upon arriving at the hospital, President Yoon first visited the neonatal intensive care unit and listened attentively to the medical staff regarding the treatment status of the quintuplets and other premature infants. Afterwards, he attended a meeting to hear opinions and suggestions from the parents of premature infants and medical staff concerning childbirth, treatment, and childcare.
The meeting was conducted in a manner to discuss the experiences and difficulties of the parents of the quintuplets and other premature infants, as well as suggestions from medical staff, focusing on the necessary support for the health of premature infants.
After the meeting, President Yoon gifted hanbok to eight children, including the quintuplets who will soon celebrate their first birthday and the triplets who recently turned two, wishing for their healthy and happy growth.
Attending the meeting were the parents of the quintuplets and other premature infants, Yoon Seung-gyu, director of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, and medical staff from pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and nursing departments.
From the government, Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong participated, along with Sung Tae-yoon, Chief of Policy Office, and Yoo Hye-mi, Senior Secretary for Low Birthrate Response from the presidential office.
