Job Projects Select Over 680 People
Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that it plans to invest a total project cost of 4.3 billion KRW in public job projects next year to provide public jobs to approximately 680 people in the first and second halves of the year, aiming to stabilize the livelihoods and boost the work motivation of employment-vulnerable groups.
Accordingly, the city is preparing to implement the first phase of the public job project in the first half of 2025. The public job project for the first half of next year will be divided into two sectors: the Jinju-type public job project and the local community job project, with applications accepted at each eup, myeon, and dong office starting early January next year.
The city plans to select a total of 340 people, including 320 for the Jinju-type public job project and 20 for the local community job project, through a screening process based on selection criteria such as the income and property status of each applicant’s household and the number of times they have participated. The first phase project period will be about four months, from February to June next year.
The Jinju-type public job project consists of a total of 180 projects, including administrative work assistance at each workplace, environmental cleanup projects such as public facility maintenance, and parking guidance at public parking lots, with 320 people assigned.
The local community job project includes a total of seven projects, such as the Jinju City Mobile Workers’ Shelter Project, maintenance of the Rainbow Hill Green Infrastructure Creation Project, and the Naedong-myeon Tourist Attraction Specialized Street Creation and Operation Project, with 20 people planned to be assigned.
Working conditions vary by project type, with work hours ranging from 4 to 6 hours per day. Wages will reflect the 2025 minimum wage, with an hourly wage of 10,030 KRW plus transportation and snack allowances of 5,000 KRW, and additional weekly holiday and annual leave allowances will be provided.
A city official stated, “Despite difficult financial conditions, we have strived to provide public jobs at levels similar to previous years. We believe these efforts will support vulnerable groups facing economic hardships and contribute to revitalizing the local economy. Moving forward, we will do our best to create more jobs through various means, including attracting local businesses and supporting public contest projects, in addition to public job projects.”
