“Stop TK Administrative Integration Immediately”… Council of Chairpersons from 11 Cities and Counties in Northern Gyeongbuk Holds Rally at Provincial Office

The Council Chairpersons' Association of 11 Cities and Counties in the Northern Gyeongbuk Region (Chairman Kwon Young-jun, Chairman of Bonghwa County Council) held a rally at the entrance of Gyeongbuk Provincial Office on the 27th, strongly urging the immediate halt of the Gyeongbuk-Daegu administrative integration 추진.


The Council Chairpersons' Association of 11 Cities and Counties in the Northern Gyeongbuk Region includes chairpersons of the basic councils of Andong, Yecheon, Sangju, Uiseong, Yeongyang, Uljin, Bonghwa, Yeongju, Mungyeong, Cheongsong, and Yeongdeok, with 7 participating in the rally that day.

After the rally, all members of the Council Chairpersons' Association of Cities and Counties in the Northern Gyeongbuk Region delivered a letter opposing the Gyeongbuk-Daegu administrative integration to Kim Ho-jin, Director of Planning and Coordination at Gyeongbuk Province, on behalf of the Governor of Gyeongbuk Province in front of the Anmin Building at the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office.


They also met with Park Seong-man, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, explained their opposition to the Gyeongbuk-Daegu administrative integration, and requested active cooperation from the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council.


Kim Gyeong-do, Chairman of Andong City Council who participated that day, stated, “The administrative integration 추진, which is being carried out while thoroughly ignoring the opinions of residents in the Northern Gyeongbuk region, is absolutely unacceptable.”


The Council Chairpersons' Association of Cities and Counties in the Northern Gyeongbuk Region promised to continue responding to protect autonomy and balanced development and to stand together with the residents in opposition to the administrative integration.
