Establishment of AI Agent Promotion Group to Enhance B2C Competitiveness
CTO-Direct Lab and CHO-Affiliated Talent Development Officer Appointed
LG Uplus is undergoing an AI-centered organizational restructuring, including the establishment of a dedicated team for its artificial intelligence (AI) agent service, 'IXIO'.
On the 28th, LG Uplus announced that it will reorganize its structure around AI, effective from the 1st of next month. The company plans to achieve sustainable growth as a 'Growth Leading AX Company' through AI transformation (AX) commercialization and digitalization of telecommunications. The Growth Leading AX Company is LG Uplus's slogan, meaning 'a company leading growth through AI transformation.'
First, the company will establish an 'AI Agent Promotion Group' to lead AI-based B2C products and services. This group will be dedicated to its AI agent service, IXIO. Under this group, new teams called the 'Mobile Agent Tribe' and 'Home Agent Tribe' will be created to focus on AI service and product development. Each team is organized as a 'tribe'?a group of agile teams with autonomous decision-making authority, similar to a startup.
Technical and human resource support to strengthen AI competitiveness in both B2C and B2B businesses will also be provided. An 'Agent/Platform Development Lab' will be placed directly under the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to accelerate the development of new AI services, and an 'AX/Talent Development Division' will be established under the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) to support employees in acquiring AX capabilities.
Organizational restructuring for the digitalization of telecommunications will also take place. The prepaid plan-based telecommunications platform 'Nugget' will be moved to the Consumer Division, and the subscription platform 'Yudok' and commerce platform 'Yukok' will be unified under the 'Subscription/Omni-Platform Division.'
Additionally, Infinista, Idleunara, and the Chief Content Officer (CCO) organization, which were directly under the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will be placed under the Consumer Division. This aims to strengthen synergy with the existing B2C business.
Lee Won-hee, LG Uplus HRBP (Human Resources Business Partner) in charge, said, "We are implementing organizational restructuring to accelerate the transition to an AX company centered on AI and digital transformation. We plan to make 2025 a new starting point for growth by securing digital competitiveness in the core telecommunications business and laying the foundation for future growth."
Meanwhile, LG Uplus has appointed Yeom Sang-pil, LG Uplus Pet Platform Tribe Leader (Senior Vice President), as the new CEO of LG Uplus Voltup, a joint venture established with Kakao Mobility. Current Voltup CEO (Vice President) Hyun Jun-yong will step down. Voltup provides electric vehicle charging services.
