About 150 participants including principals, vice principals, teachers, and education support office supervisors from 74 character education practice schools (25 elementary, 32 middle, 17 high schools) and 25 global citizenship education practice schools (9 elementary, 8 middle, 8 high schools) will attend.

This performance sharing meeting is meaningful as schools that have focused on character education gather in one place to share customized character education practice cases by school level and region and to prepare expansion plans.

On the 29th, a special lecture on ‘The Necessity of Character Education in Changing Times’ will be held, along with sharing the ‘One-Year Life of Practice Schools,’ helping to form a network among character and global citizenship education practice schools.

On the 30th, discussions and practical sessions on character and global citizenship education operation plans by school level and region will take place, along with presentations of excellent cases of character and global citizenship education linked to school curricula.

Excellent cases to be shared include ▲Curriculum that nurtures the heart (Bakdal Elementary School) ▲Actual practice and evaluation of school character education through the new attempt ‘Character Baccalaureate’ (Eojeong Middle School) ▲‘Together’ project involving the educational community (Surigo).

This performance sharing meeting is organized in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education Training Institute, offering a variety of programs including practice case sharing and competency-enhancing professional training. Participants can choose to take an 8-hour remote training in advance and complete a 10-hour professional training.

Through this, participants can understand the relationship between character education and global citizenship education and strengthen teachers’ practical competencies through communication and sharing.

Lee Ji-myeong, Director of the Life Character Education Division at the Office of Education, said, “Through the character and global citizenship education practice school network, we can improve the quality of education within the complementary relationship between character and citizenship,” adding, “We will strengthen teachers’ competencies to provide integrated support for character and global citizenship education.”
