Support for Special Equipment and Advanced Machinery Difficult to Maintain in Small-Scale Workplaces

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by about 100 small business stakeholders, including Won Kang-su, Mayor of Wonju, Jo Yong-gi, Chairman of the Wonju City Council, Lee Byung-chul, Director of the Gangwon Regional Public Procurement Service, Lee Myung-soon, Head of Small Business Division of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Kim Ju-seok, Head of NH Nonghyup Bank Wonju Branch, Jeong Ui-su, President of the Innobiz Association Gangwon Branch, and Ko Jong-cheol, President of the Gangwon Small Business Federation.
The ceremony began with a project progress report reflecting on the process and significance of establishing the center, followed by commemorative speeches, congratulatory remarks, a groundbreaking performance praying for construction safety, and a commemorative photo session.
The Wonju Small Business Complex Support Center aims for completion in May next year, with a total project cost of 4.76 billion KRW including national and provincial funds. It will renovate the joint workplace daycare center (Donghwa Children's Daycare Center, 774㎡) in the Donghwa Industrial Complex, Munmak-eup, and expand the factory building (663.83㎡) to include key facilities such as a shared equipment room, training room, conference room, and offices.
In particular, it plans to establish special facilities and advanced equipment that small-scale businesses find difficult to own, providing Wonju’s small business owners with one-stop support services including smart manufacturing, equipment, product development, and online marketing.
Won Kang-su, Mayor of Wonju, stated, “As the first small business infrastructure and innovation growth foundation in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, we will make this a model case that goes beyond simple facility construction to realize ‘Economic City Wonju,’ strengthening small business capabilities and revitalizing the local economy.”
