[Breaking] Request for Detention Review of Myeong Taegyun Accused of Nomination Interference Denied

The detention review for Myung Tae-gyun, who is under arrest and investigation for allegations including interference in candidate nominations and illegal opinion polls, was dismissed.

At around 4 p.m. on the 27th, the Criminal Division 3 of Changwon District Court in Gyeongnam, which began the detention review for Myung, stated the reason for dismissal, saying, "Based on the suspect's interrogation results and records, the request for detention review in this case is deemed unfounded."

A detention review is a procedure where a detained suspect requests the court to reassess the legality of the detention, and after deliberation, a dismissal or release decision is made within 24 hours.

Myung, who was detained on the 15th due to concerns over evidence destruction and is currently held at Changwon Prison Detention Center, was initially scheduled to be detained until the 23rd of this month, but the detention period was extended once until December 3.

Previously, Myung's legal representative cited reasons for the detention review request, including that Myung is a non-politician and thus not subject to the Political Funds Act, that there is room to dispute the facts of the charges, and that the suspect's health is not good.
