Daejin University Department of Architectural Engineering Wins Grand Prize and Excellence Award at Construction Technology Competition

Daejin University announced on the 27th that students from the Department of Architectural Engineering in the College of Engineering won 2 Grand Prizes and 8 Excellence Awards at the 19th Construction Technology Competition hosted by the Korea Institute of Construction Engineering and Management on the 15th.

The "Construction Technology Competition" is a contest aimed at enhancing the academic research capabilities of architectural engineering undergraduates. It showcased numerous works infused with the creative ideas and academic capabilities of the younger generation, demonstrating the true potential of architectural engineering students who will lead the future of the domestic construction technology field.


A total of 19 teams from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Daejin University, under the guidance of Professors Ryu Dong-woo and Jeong Joo-hong, participated in the "Construction Technology Competition." At the competition, student Kwon Yong-woo won a Grand Prize for "Development of a Bolt-fastening Type Line Guide Post for Easy Maintenance" (Advisor: Professor Ryu Dong-woo), and student Pi Seung-min also won a Grand Prize for "A Study on the Impact Absorption Performance of Ventilated Safety Helmets" (Advisor: Professor Jeong Joo-hong), achieving a remarkable feat with two Grand Prizes in total.


Additionally, student Moon Chang-sung received an Excellence Award for "Air Piston Prevention Elevator Structure Manhole Cover" (Advisor: Professor Ryu Dong-woo), student Lee Seung-woo for "A Study on the Development of a Detachable Surface Heating Element to Resolve Road Freezing Vulnerable Sections" (Advisor: Professor Ryu Dong-woo), student Han Chung-hwan for "A Study on the Development of a Car Stopper to Prevent Concrete Cracks to Solve Leakage Damage in Underground Parking Slabs" (Advisor: Professor Ryu Dong-woo), students Kim Tae-young and Kwon Tae-min for "Development of a Camera-based On-site Safety Management CMS(contents management system) Model" (Advisor: Professor Jeong Joo-hong), student Kim Sung-hyuk for "Automatic Recommendation System for Interior Finishing Materials in Apartment Buildings" (Advisor: Professor Jeong Joo-hong), student Jo Min-gi for "Pressure-reducing Manhole Using Tesla Valve" (Advisor: Professor Jeong Joo-hong), students Lee Chae-won and Noh Seo-jin for "A Study on Epoxy-Dimethicone Mixed Coating to Prevent Rebar Corrosion in Long-term Abandoned Buildings" (Advisor: Professor Jeong Joo-hong), and student Woo Ji-heon for "Safety Evacuation Rail" (Advisor: Professor Jeong Joo-hong), receiving a total of 8 Excellence Awards.


The Department of Architectural Engineering at Daejin University, established in 1992, cultivates future-oriented architectural talents who combine creativity and autonomy based on sound character. To this end, it implements a customized integrated curriculum that combines research and practice so that students can acquire independent theories and knowledge in all fields of architectural engineering. Based on an understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, it has established a convergence major that responds to IT-based practical work, leading the advancement of architectural engineering.
