Minimizing Confusion Such as Withdrawal of Registration
"Increase in Additional Admissions, Decline in Admission Scores"
Yonsei University, which suspended the 2025 academic year natural sciences early admission essay exam procedure due to the controversy over the 'essay question leak,' has decided to hold an additional exam on the 8th of next month. In response, the admissions industry analyzed that "the announcement of successful candidates should also be conducted from the 13th to the 15th of next month to prevent confusion."
Jongno Academy stated on the 27th, "Because the first early admission registration period is from December 16 to 18," explaining this. From the examinees' perspective, all universities to which they applied through early admission should announce their successful candidates simultaneously so that they can confirm multiple acceptances and make a final decision.
They continued, "If the second successful candidate announcement is made after the first registration period from December 16 to 18, students who have already registered at universities where they were initially accepted will have to forfeit their registration due to additional acceptance from Yonsei University," adding, "As students who have already registered withdraw, significant damage will occur to the early admission process at other universities."
Jongno Academy forecasted that the number of early admission successful candidates will increase from the initial 261 to 522, lowering the early admission acceptance threshold at top-tier universities and increasing the number of additional early admissions compared to last year. They also analyzed that with the expansion of additional early admissions, the acceptance threshold at top-tier universities in the regular admission process may also decrease.
Furthermore, they pointed out that the reduction in recruitment quotas at top-tier universities could make the current first-year high school students the biggest victims.
