Yangsu-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, Attends 'Yangju City Women's Organizations Council Performance Sharing Meeting'

Happy Together Welfare City Yangju 'All-Out Effort'

Yangsu-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, attended the ‘2024 Yangju City Women’s Organizations Council Performance Sharing Meeting’ held on the 26th at the ‘Gyeonggi Textile Comprehensive Support Center Convention Hall’ and cheered on the members of the ‘Women’s Organizations Council’ who carried out various volunteer activities for the local community throughout the year.

The performance sharing meeting, hosted by the Yangju City Women’s Organizations Council (President Yoon Hye-seon), was attended by about 200 people, including Mayor Yangsu-hyun, Yoon Chang-cheol, Chairperson of the City Council, council members, heads of local institutions and social organizations, and members of women’s organizations.


The event proceeded in the order of ▲ screening of a one-year activity video of the Yangju City Women’s Organizations Council and its nine affiliated women’s organizations, ▲ donation ceremony, ▲ commendations for contributions to women’s advancement, ▲ presentation of appreciation plaques, and ▲ time for harmony.


In particular, attendees watched a video showcasing this year’s ‘hard work’ of women’s organizations, including ▲ gender equality awareness improvement campaigns, ▲ river cleanup activities, ▲ support activities for attracting a public medical center, ▲ support for various events such as Samiljeol (Independence Movement Day) and Hyeonchungil (Memorial Day), ▲ holiday food sharing events, and ▲ kimchi sharing for neighborly love, and encouraged the participants with big applause, drawing attention.


Following this, at the donation ceremony, it was announced that the ‘Yangju City Women’s Organizations Council’ donated 5 million won to the Yangju City Hope Scholarship Foundation from the profits earned by selling beverages and snacks during the open period of ‘Nari Farm’ last autumn. Additionally, five affiliated organizations?the Yangju City Saemaeul Women’s Association, Consumer Education Central Association Yangju Branch, Yangju Police Station Citizen Police Corps, Korea Freedom Federation Yangju Branch, and Korea Mothers’ Association Yangju Branch?donated 5 million won from the profits earned by selling food during the recent Celosia Festival.


President Yoon Hye-seon said, “We women will contribute to making Yangju a city that leaps forward together with its citizens and strive to enhance women’s rights and realize practical gender equality so that women can actively participate as leading figures in the local community.”


Mayor Yangsu-hyun of Yangju City expressed, “I sincerely thank the members of the women’s organizations who have participated in various volunteer activities throughout the community,” and added, “We will continue to devote ourselves to promoting a gender-equal society and revitalizing women’s organizations, and furthermore, to building ‘Yangju, a welfare city of happy companionship.’”


Meanwhile, the ‘Yangju City Women’s Organizations Council,’ composed of nine women’s organizations, is leading efforts to improve the status of women and promote regional development through various activities such as Gender Equality Week events and women leaders’ workshops.
