The first snowfall of this winter in Seoul piled up a lot of snow on roads and side streets, causing expected traffic inconveniences for residents on their way to work. According to Yongsan District, Mayor Park quickly checked the response system centered around the district office and each neighborhood community center that morning and directed snow removal operations.
Mayor Park visited Yongsan Library, Huam Market, Hyochang Park Station, and the Sinheung-ro area in sequence. He inspected the operation status of road heating systems and personally participated in snow removal on site, encouraging the workers.
As of 10 a.m. that day, about 15.2 cm of heavy snow had fallen in Yongsan District. No significant damage caused by the heavy snowfall was reported. Mayor Park said, “We responded swiftly to minimize the inconvenience caused by the overnight heavy snowfall and prioritized the safety of residents. We will do our best to protect the safety of district residents by strengthening snow removal work on roads and walkways.”
The district is implementing various response measures to minimize residents’ inconvenience, such as installing additional road heating systems on major roads and expanding the manpower of private snow removal task forces in preparation for heavy snowfall this winter.
