Opening the Era of the 'Owner 4th Generation'
Huh Seo-hong, head of GS Retail's Management Strategy Service Unit (SU) and vice president, has been appointed as the new CEO of GS Retail.
Born in 1977, the new CEO Huh graduated from Da-il Foreign Language High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Western History. He completed his MBA at Stanford Graduate School of Business and began his career in 2002 as an analyst in the Corporate Finance Department at Samjong KPMG.
He joined GS Home Shopping in 2005, working in the New Business Team, and in 2009, he worked at Chevron and GS Energy. Afterwards, he served as head of the Future Business Team (executive director) at GS Corporation, leading new business initiatives at the GS Group level.
Since 2023, he has moved to lead GS Retail's Management Strategy SU, overseeing the organization of the Management Support Headquarters, Strategy Division, New Business Division, and External Cooperation Division for over a year.
GS Retail explains that the new CEO Huh is regarded as the right person to lead future growth in the rapidly changing distribution environment. He built a portfolio based on GS Group's new business investment strategy while serving as head of the Future Business Team at GS Corporation.
