On the 27th, a heavy snow warning was issued at 12:30 PM, and with approximately 14.2 cm of snow accumulation and a cold wave expected to cause icy roads, Uijeongbu City replaced the originally planned on-site tea time in the Singok area with a written meeting. Early in the morning, snow removal work began on major roads, crosswalks, and bus stops.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun worked alongside about 20 members of the Songsan 3-dong Community Leaders Association and others to clear snow at intersections such as the one in front of E-Mart Uijeongbu in Minrak-dong to ensure pedestrian safety for citizens on their way to work.
Mayor Kim said, “With the first snowfall of the year followed by a cold wave, we promptly carried out snow removal before the snow on the roads froze into ice. We will continue to operate a proactive response system for heavy snow and cold waves to ensure that citizens experience no inconvenience in their daily lives.”
