About 40 participants, including the Women's Association Council, the police station, two support facilities for female victims of violence, an illegal filming monitoring team, and the Women's Friendly City Citizen Participation Group, joined the campaign to pledge together to create a safe Gwangju City free from violence against women.

The Week for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is designated by the UN to promote a violence-free environment. In South Korea, based on the Act on the Prevention of Violence Against Women, the week integrates Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence Elimination Week and is observed annually from November 25 to December 1.

This campaign aimed to create a safe community and raise awareness about violence against women by actively distributing promotional materials produced by victim support facilities, emphasizing the importance of violence prevention, response methods, and information about victim support facilities.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “We will continue to do our best to create a ‘Women-Friendly City Gwangju’ where everyone is happy by promoting various prevention projects such as the safety package project for single-woman households, the Happy Embrace Road creation project, and the operation of a citizen monitoring team against illegal filming to prevent violence against women and ensure safety.”
