30-Year-Old Man Who Sold Drugs to 'Yongsan Fall Death Police Officer' Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison Yonhap News

On the morning of the 27th, at the Seoul Western District Court, Criminal Division 9, presided over by Judge Kang Young-gi, the prosecution asked for a sentence of 5 years in prison and a fine of 1.42 million won in the sentencing trial for Moon (36), who is charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act.

Moon is accused of selling 3 grams of ketamine to Corporal A of the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency for 720,000 won last August, who later died from a fall. The prosecution stated, "The defendant is making unacceptable excuses," and added, "It appears that immediately after Corporal A's death, he anticipated the investigation against himself and underwent dermatological treatment. There is also evidence of continuous drug use and sales over several years," explaining the reason for the sentence request.

Moon's defense argued, "There are indications that the initial digital information related to this case was collected illegally," claiming that the evidence gathered by the investigative authorities was obtained without proper procedures and therefore should be considered invalid.

In his final statement, Moon appealed, "I have never given drugs to my friend nor have I used them myself," and added, "No drugs were found in my home, car, or on my person. I hope you will carefully consider this so that I am not punished for something I did not do."

This case arose after drugs were detected in Corporal A, who died from a fall in an apartment in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, last August. The police reported that at least 25 people gathered at the meeting, and except for the deceased Corporal A, the remaining 24 attendees were booked on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, with some being sent for prosecution. Moon was separately indicted for selling ketamine to Corporal A apart from this gathering.
