Dong-A University Department of Fine Arts, Late Professor Woo Dong-min Retrospective Exhibition 'SOUND OF SOUL'... Opening on the 1st of Next Month

At Bumin Campus Seokdang Art Museum, Students Collaborate to Plan Exhibition

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) and the Department of Fine Arts (Department Head Lee Hoon-ki) will hold a retrospective exhibition of the late Professor Woo Dong-min titled ‘SOUND OF SOUL’ from the 1st to the 14th of next month at the Seokdang Art Museum on the Bumin Campus.

This exhibition, planned through the collaboration of the late Professor Woo Dong-min’s disciples, the Department of Fine Arts, and Dong-A University’s Seokdang Art Museum, will showcase over 200 ceramic works created by Professor Woo throughout his lifetime in one place.

The exhibition title and the artwork title represent a piece that encapsulates his artistic concerns and philosophy. The exhibition will feature works from the early pieces of ‘SOUND OF SOUL,’ which he devoted his life to researching, to the ‘COSMOS’ series, his final works.

Professor Woo is known as an artist who sublimated the sorrow of the nation and the sound of the soul into ceramic art. Professor Kim Seung-ho, an art critic and faculty member of Dong-A University’s Department of Fine Arts, described his artistic world as “The sound of the soul?the ceramic world?opens new curiosity for creation and a timelessness of the present to us.”

A representative from Dong-A University’s Department of Fine Arts stated, “His works fully embody artistic ideals and reflections. Through this, visitors will feel as if they are participating in his artistic journey simply by viewing the works. We hope this retrospective will be a time to once again reflect on the artistic footprints and philosophy he left behind and to experience the profound resonance of the soul he so deeply pursued.”
