Exploring Future Energy Development Directions in Pohang for Senior Officials
On the 27th, Pohang City held a special lecture on "Fusion Power Strategy" by inviting Oh Young-guk, the director of the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy, a leading research institution in the field of fusion energy, at the city hall's main conference room.

The lecture was conducted for about 100 senior officials, including Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang, introducing Korea's fusion research trends and acceleration strategies while exploring the future energy development direction of Pohang.
Director Oh Young-guk provided an in-depth explanation of the latest achievements in Korea's fusion research and future development directions.
In particular, he introduced efforts to accelerate the commercialization of fusion based on world-class research infrastructure and technological capabilities, enhancing the officials' understanding of the fusion energy sector.
Director Oh emphasized, "Fusion energy is a core technology that will lead the future energy market," and added, "If Pohang City establishes a cooperative system for fostering related industries and actively supports it, it can grow into a fusion energy city."
Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, "Pohang has excellent research infrastructure and industrial foundations," and said, "Based on this, we will do our best to foster related industries and create jobs by making fusion energy a future growth engine."
The special lecture was arranged as an opportunity to share Pohang City's vision for fusion energy ahead of the Future Clean Energy Forum held on the same day at the POSCO International Hall. The Future Clean Energy Forum featured various discussions on realizing the commercialization of fusion energy and linking regional industries with fusion technology.
