Creation of Starlight Gardens 1, 2, and 3 with Residents around Byeolbitnaerimcheon in Gwanak-gu This Year
Urban Stream Area Landscape Improvement and Diverse Planting for a Healing and Eco-Friendly Space for Residents
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is making every effort to create a happy Gwanak for its residents by establishing healing spaces where residents can recharge in nature, as well as various spaces to enjoy leisure and culture.
First, since the 7th local government, the district has been the first in Seoul to give the stream (Dorimcheon) the brand name "Byeolbitnaerincheon" following the birth legend of General Gang Gam-chan, and is promoting specialized projects to make "Byeolbitnaerincheon a famous spot" in connection with the Sillim Line, which opened in May 2022.
In July this year, to provide various contents where people can experience nature and culture together in green spaces within the city, the district established the "Park and Leisure Bureau" through an organizational restructuring.
The district is promoting various garden culture projects to create a healing city where flowers and trees can be seen and water flows when windows are opened.
At "Byeolbitnaerincheon," Gwanak-gu's representative healing space and the most frequently used walking trail by residents of all ages, a starlight garden has been created.
Byeolbitnaerincheon No. 1 is located between Sillimgyo and Seowon Pedestrian Bridge, No. 2 is around the waterside stage near Sindaebang Station, and No. 3 is located under Bongnimgyo Bridge.
On the 13th, Mayor Park Jun-hee, children from nearby daycare centers, and residents participated in a tree planting event around Byeolbitnaerincheon Starlight Garden No. 3, creating a meaningful occasion to decorate the garden together.
Byeolbitnaerincheon Starlight Garden No. 3 is planted with a variety of 35 species of waterside plants, including Moon Glow, Silver Vine, Sukryeong, and Eulalia, which represent autumn, allowing residents to fully enjoy the fall season in the garden.
Additionally, the district created a garden with comforting phrases such as "It's okay to shake" and "You can rest if you're tired," and at night, lighting that makes it seem as if fireflies are hiding among the plants creates an emotional atmosphere, providing residents with a space where they can heal anytime.
The district expects that the barren urban stream will be reborn as an eco-friendly space where various insects such as butterflies can inhabit through the creation of the starlight garden along the stream.
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "We have prepared a garden where residents can feel the autumn atmosphere and take a short break from their busy daily lives," and added, "We will continue to create garden culture spaces in Healing Garden City Gwanak where anyone can heal and enjoy leisure with nature."
