"After Sailing and Chatting Over Cocktails"... Seoul Version of 'I Am Solo' Creates 27 Couples On the 23rd, 'Excitement, in Hangang' was held at Banpo Hangang Park in Seoul. Provided by Seoul City

The so-called 'Seoul City Edition I Am Solo,' which arranged meetings for 100 unmarried men and women, concluded successfully.

According to Seoul City on the 27th, a total of 27 couples were matched at the 'Excitement, in Hangang' event held on the 23rd at Banpo Hangang Park's Sebitseom, achieving a matching rate of 54%. The event recruited 100 unmarried men and women aged 25 to 39 from last month 21st to this month 8th, with a total of 3,286 applicants, resulting in a competition rate of 33 to 1. Matched couples are scheduled to receive date vouchers up to a maximum of 10 million KRW depending on the total number of couples.

While local governments hold dozens of events annually to arrange meetings for unmarried men and women, it is usually characterized by a significantly higher ratio of male participants. In some local governments, female public officials were even mobilized to balance the gender ratio due to a lack of female applicants. However, in the case of 'Excitement, in Hangang,' it was revealed that the gender ratio of applicants was about 5.5 to 4.5, indicating a high proportion of women. Regarding this, Seoul City evaluated, "There are many unmarried men and women residing in the jurisdiction, and the city's participant verification process is trusted, which drew a good response." This is because applicants were required to submit a resident registration certificate (or abstract), employment certificate (for office workers), business registration certificate (for business owners), income certificate (for freelancers), and detailed marriage relation certificate, among others.

Participants engaged in various programs from 3 PM to 9 PM on the event day, including a Hangang yacht tour, recreational games, one-on-one conversations, and cocktail dates. In particular, a dating expert provided on-site dating coaching to ease participants' tension and conducted games and mission activities. Afterward, participants went through the final step of listing their preferred partners from first to third choice, and the event organizers notified only the matched individuals the next morning. The 27 couples matched at the event received date packages worth approximately 300,000 KRW each, including meal vouchers and cultural experience tickets.

In a survey conducted after the event, 84% of respondents answered that they were 'satisfied' with the event programs and operation. Reasons for satisfaction included 'program composition' and 'opportunities to talk with various people of the opposite sex.' Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Seoul City Women and Family Office, said, "We sincerely congratulate those who became couples," adding, "We will strive to continue holding the event through corporate sponsorships and provide more opportunities for unmarried men and women to meet."
